Following the multi-billion-dollar acquisition of Activision, Microsoft is taking its time to add the publisher’s back catalogue onto the hugely popular Game Pass subscription service. Whether it’s Spyro or Transformers, fans of various franchises continue to wait for their favourite series to appear, but most gamers’ eyes are pinned on Call of Duty.

While the new Black Ops 6 release has launched on Xbox Game Pass, decades of past CoD titles have yet to make their way to the service. However, it seems that Microsoft is finally gearing up to add the Call of Duty back catalogue to its library of Game Pass games.

Classic Infinity Ward CoDs have appeared on Microsoft Store

First spotted by XboxEra, Call of Duty, United Offensive, Call of Duty 2, and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare have all appeared on the Microsoft Store for PC. The pattern follows a similar formula to other games that are preparing to feature on Game Pass which is great news if you’re a fan of any of the older games.

For many, Call of Duty 2 and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare are regarded as some of the strongest entries into Activision’s shooter series thanks to their simplistic gameplay and innovative mechanics that still appear in the most recent releases. CoD4 was the first to feature Perks in multiplayer along with the Prestige system that returned with the launch of Black Ops 6 in October 2024.

Their potential inclusion in Game Pass subscriptions is a positive for those yet to play the earlier Call of Duty games or those who want to relive the glory days of patrolling Carrentan with a Kar98k sniper rifle equipped.

Will they come to Game Pass?

While all the signs point towards these Call of Duty games coming to Game Pass, there’s always a chance of them remaining on the Microsoft Store with their set price. The likes of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 along with Singularity have also featured on the storefront but never made their way to Game Pass so you should keep expectations in check for now.

The final set of Game Pass games has already been confirmed for 2024 and includes a remastered version of Crash Team Racing along with Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. With the 2024 Game Awards expected to reveal some surprises, there’s always a chance other games join 2023’s Modern Warfare 3 and this year’s Black Ops 6 on Game Pass.
